Bramble Ramble - An Adventure in the Outdoors for 4 to 8 year olds
Outdoor Activity

Bramble Ramble

Do your own bramble ramble!

Following on from previous research for our digital adventure, we were aware that the Covid-19 pandemic was accelerating and creating mental health issues amongst children and young people. Of particular concern was the effect of lengthy lockdowns resulting in the lack of opportunities for families to bond with each other and engage with the natural world.

We designed our interactive audio walk Bramble Ramble to work within lockdown restrictions such as one household only and staying local.

We tested the experience with volunteer families in the Wellingborough (Northamptonshire) area and collected their feedback using an activity booklet – a format that was so successful that we incorporated it into the full experience.

In April 2021 the final project was rolled out in three Northamptonshire parks – Croyland Gardens (Wellingborough), Beckets Park (Northampton) and Coronation Park (Corby) – and with the support of local friends groups and libraries has been made available repeatedly to families of all different backgrounds.

Now available at Campbell Park, Milton Keynes (May 2022).

Due to popular demand, we have also created a version of Bramble Ramble that can be enjoyed at any park, anywhere in the world.

It made our trip to the park extra special!

We really enjoyed the experience as a family. We were lucky enough to do it on a warm and sunny day. Thanks for such a wonderful resource! 🙂

It gave us something different to do at the park and kept them guessing!

What I liked best was the bonding aspect. It was really nice to sit calmly together just being away from the usual bustle of life.

So beautifully made, absolutely magical!
